Madeira’s Webcams,
analyzed by Ai to give you local weather
Why all that ?
This project, is a bit off my skills,
I wanted to use ChatGPT in a “useful” automated way, also breaking the ice with image-API.
In my opinion, the best way to use Ai isn’t by creating content, but by transforming human readable content into clean and standardized data, able to feed algorithms and simplifying comprehension of complex data for humans.
Now living on Madeira island, this place appears to be a bit specific in terms of weather.
Being in the middle of the ocean, wind quickly pushes clouds around, creating some very local microclimate. Basically, you can have the 4 seasons at the same time in 4 different places on the island.
To be able to hike around then, we keep on checking webcams, adapting plans depending on the clouds movements.
My idea then, is to propose a map of Madeira, where webcams outputs (=weather basically) are simplified thought pictograms.
This required few steps :
- Scrapping webcams urls 4 times a day (as they keep on changing)
- Sending urls to ChatGPT asking analysis of the weather through 4 variables :
- Sun-presence, Clouds-presence, Potential-rain, Visibility (not outputted yet).
- Saving the weather analysis in a Database per timestamps per webcams
- Outputting the most recent Datas in a User Interface
- Giving access to the webcam view itself as we don’t trust ChatGPT’s output
