Time-sliced Inspiration in Painting

Inspired by my recent attempts to improve my painting skills, I've explored landscapes for the first time.

Here is the final result of my work:

Nota bene,
This whole page has been created by ChatGPT. I used the vocal interaction feature, pushing the Ai to interview me about this project and ask questions depending on my previous answer. I then gave as input two articles I wrote on this blog, and descriptions of few images I have. It automatically created the html of this page.

I'm gonna write all my futur project summary this way, that's so efficient !

First Attempt

My first attempt didn't go as planned. I tried painting the landscape, but even tho I was happy with the sky, the colors of the land and details were off :

Struggles with Changing Colors

One of the major challenges I faced was how quickly the colors changed in the scene, especially at sunset. This is illustrated by these images showing how the light shifts dramatically:

This pushed me to repaint the scene on the reverse side of the same canvas. Despite the unconventional surface, I was way more satisfied with the second iteration.

Working on the Reverse Side

These photos capture moments of the second iteration, showing different stages of the painting process:

Details and Brushstrokes

In the final version, you can see the brushstrokes that give life to the landscape, adding texture and depth:

Why all that?

Painting this landscape has made me more aware of the rapid changes in light and how hard it is to capture these moments in time. This experience has also sparked an idea for a new project:

I really appreciate when exploring different techincs leads to those unexpected experiences!
